Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities The IT Operations Assistant role is comprised of assisting the Senior IT Specialist with the following activities: 1. Computer hardware configuring and troubleshooting that includes: • Computer BIOS understanding and configuring • Using hardware diagnostics command-line tools • Replacing defective computer components • Updating firmware • Troubleshooting Printers, Scanners, Fax machines, Internet routers. 2. Windows computers software installing, configuring and troubleshooting that include: • Installing Windows • Upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 10 • Finding and installing appropriate hardware drivers (Device Manager) • Optimizing Windows performance • Using System Event Viewer • Using Task Manager and Resource Monitor • Using Windows command line (DOS) • Using Windows Disk Management • Using Windows Services 3. Basic Active Directory (AD) administration that includes: • Creating/changing AD accounts • Creating/mapping shared folders/network drives • Joining Windows computers to Windows domain • Group Policy management 4. Basic Windows networking: • Understanding TCP/IP • Configuring network on Windows computers • Troubleshooting network issues • DNS Management • Using network command-line tools 5. Providing Technical Support and Guidance that includes: • Using phone, emails and ticketing system • Using remote support software (e.g. TeamViewer or AnyDesk) • Creating user manuals 6. Backup and Recovery: • Using Backup software • Understanding Backup Strategies The IT Operations Assistant will perform any other duties that are reasonably within the scope of this position.
