Job Description
POSITION: WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT Reporting to: General Manager We are looking for a versatile and adaptable team player to take on whatever comes next as we build and maintain our production brewery. This role involves a variety of brewery operation, construction and maintenance tasks that change frequently according to project priorities and production schedules. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, armed with a positive, can-do mentality and suitable skills and experience to work independently, but can also learn from and/or assist others as necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Regular janitorial duties and general property maintenance • Assistance with warehouse priorities, including cleaning, packaging and movement of raw materials, spent grains and finished goods • Providing assistance to licensed trades as necessary • Completion of ad hoc minor projects and tasks as directed • Contribution to large ongoing projects with quality, skilled efforts involving painting, carpentry, plumbing or general labour • Safe operation of hand tools, machinery, and material handling equipment • Shipping/Receiving • Participation in brewery events and tours as scheduled • Other project or warehouse responsibilities as may be assigned MUST HAVES: 1. Proven handyman/maintenance skills with trade or renovation experience 2. PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), willing to learn and to take direction 3. Good problem solving capabilities and ability to work as a team player 4. Tidy work habits with attention to detail 5. Acquire all job skills within 3 months of on-the-job training 6. Basic knowledge of the brewing process and packaging equipment 7. Interest in understanding the brewing industry and beer flavour profiles 8. Able to work a flexible schedule, as required by peak business needs and events 9. Good time management skills 10. Accountability and reliability 11. Passion for beer and a quality product 12. Following SOP’s, established best practices and safety procedures NICE TO HAVE: 1. Prudhomme Level 1 Certification minimum, or equivalent 2. Previous brewery, culinary or hospitality experience 3. SMART SERVE certification JOB CATEGORY REQUIREMENTS: • Comfortable working in restrictive and damp environments, hot or cold • Conformance with company policies and procedures • Able to conduct oneself in a reputable, professional and courteous manner • For safety, the ability to work effectively with meet the physical demands of the position with or without special accommodations • Ability to lift and carry loads of 50 to 150 lbs. • Able to safely and effectively use hand and power tools • A valid Ontario “G” Drivers Licence and clean driving record • A valid fork-lift operator’s licence is an asset, must be able to obtain within 2 months. • Satisfactory background check (criminal, credit) • English language fluency (verbal & written) • Eligible to work in Canada As the brewery becomes fully operational, the role of the Warehouse Assistant will be become increasingly operational and less project-oriented. As the role evolves, it will offer further opportunity for personal development and growth within the brewing environment.
